What You'll Need
high-powered fan
screen material
a bottle of seltzer water
a few rare-earth magnets
solution of half rubbing alcohol, half water
How It Works
1 Cover the back of your fan with regular screen material. Rojas recommends a MaxxAir drum fan that you can find at normal hardware stores.
2 Use rare-earth magnets to anchor the screen in place.
3 Turn the fan on. The power of the fan sucking in air is strong enough to trap nearby mosquitoes against the screen material.
4 Place a partially opened bottle of seltzer water behind the fan. The carbon dioxide released from the seltzer attracts the mosquitoes to fly towards the trap.
5 After a day or so, spray the screen with your diluted alcohol solution. This will kill any remaining living mosquitoes.
6 Instead of throwing the dead bugs out, you can return them to nature. The alcohol will soon evaporate, making the mosquitoes safe to be eaten by other animals.
